Hey there!

I’m Jacquelyn!

I grew up in a small town in Central Alberta and currently call Toronto, ON my home.

Back in early March, I turned 41 and I am the proud mom of 3 of the most kind, smart and adventurous beautiful boys, Ryder, Liam & Oliver. I’ve spent the past 6 years as an entrepreneur building my coaching business and have worked with 1000’s of people from around the world. I started my company with $400 and I am very proud to say that I’ve built a very successful coaching business that is still thriving 6 years later!

I LOVE personal development. I wish it was something that was taught to me in my earlier years, because I’ve found that when you know who you are, life just becomes more exciting and interesting and a tad bit easier.

I have learned through the years, it’s never really about the goals you have achieved or the things that you have, but it is the person you become along the way to achieving those goals. It is learning who you are and how you operate and it is the most difficult times that you face in life that really show yourself what you are capable of. It’s about becoming better each day and becoming better than you were yesterday. The challenges and obstacles shape us and help us become aware of our strengths and our weaknesses that enable us grow into the person we want to become. It is being able to show up everyday regardless of what is going on or in your way. It’s not always easy, but it is so worth it if you keep going.

Having the freedom and being able to be express and be myself has always been important to me and building a life of freedom that allows me to work from home, on the road, an airplane (really, anywhere I can get wifi) or while I’m just chilling with my boys. I wanted to be able to pick my boys up from school every day while doing what I love to do. This was at one time a vision that I had, now is my reality. I love trying and experiencing new things, just as long as it doesn’t involve creepy crawlies or snakes and I can be home in time for a good night’s sleep!

Take a scroll through, fast forward, skim through this page or read every word. I am grateful that you’ve taken the time to be here and to get to know me! There is a reason you are here and I look forward to getting to know you as well.

Jacquelyn

On a more prestige note What my bio says about me…

Jacquelyn MacKenzie is a best-selling author, speaker, human growth expert and business leader and Co-Founder of CJC Esteemed Partners Real Estate. She began her business career in 1999, at the age of 20, working in the commercial construction management industry. A go-getter from an early age, she worked hard, learned fast, and quickly gained success, and recognition, in an unconventional field. Her down-to-earth approach coupled with her straightforward strategies for success helped propel her to become one of the most quietly sought after coaches globally. She has earned her moniker, human growth expert, by her students and mentees, who have reported an exceptional track record of client success.

When you love what you do…

So if you would have asked me when I was little what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have told you I wanted to be a journalist or a reporter. I always found people and their stories to be so interesting and I loved hearing about what they were doing or up to. So naturally, getting into coaching was a good fit for me (even though my background was in Construction).

When I first started my coaching business, I had $400 to my name and had to get something going quickly. I put my head down and got to work. I’m very proud to say, I’ve built a very successful coaching business, working with 1000’s of people from around the globe. I’ve hosted and taught 80+ seminars (sometimes 3 in one day, or 4 in one week) and I have spoken on many stages.

It is sometimes crazy, but I love every minute of it! Working with people from all walks of life brings me great joy to see them grow and achieve their desired goals. I love being a small part of people’s journey. I’ve worked with companies from Law Firms, Health Care Offices, Sales Organizations, Manufacturing Companies, Academies, Real Estate Firms and I have also worked with so many individuals from solo entrepreneurs, people looking to find their passion, individuals that want start a business or people that want to increase their results. I love teaching people how to think big and expand their mind from what they think they can do, to what they really want in their life. We were not taught to go after what we want, we were taught to go after what we think we can do and there is no growth in that way whatsoever. Success starts in the mind first. You have to think it first before you can do it.

Having a mentor is worth everything. (And yes even mentors have mentors!)

Mentors really help close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. When I first started in the coaching business, I had the pleasure of being mentored by one of the greats in personal development, Bob Proctor. I spent 5 years studying and working with him and became his number 1 consultant in the world. I got to work very close with Bob. He taught me how to think big, how to become disciplined with my thoughts and how to create a powerful self-image of myself. I remember times being in his studio where he was teaching me how to speak on stage and how to command the attention of an audience. It is an art to be able to do this. If you have ever heard him speak, then you know what a privilege this is to be taught by him. Later I had the honour of teaching 100’s of other consultants in one of his training seminars, then later sharing the stage with him at one of my own seminars. I am forever grateful for his mentorship.

Real Estate was always a secret goal of mine.

I am also a co-founder of a multi-family real estate company that I helped build and have an amazing team that works with us! It has always been a goal of mine to have a real estate company. We are proud of our company and the people that work with us. As of the summer 2020 we have over $500 Million of multi-family properties on the books and I am incredibly proud to be a Principal and COO of CJC Esteemed Partners.

I always seem to have lots going on. I’ve learned so much. I’m not scared to try things or to start things even if they don’t work out. I really believe that process is how you begin to define who you are and really get to know what you love to do. I’ve had many things that I’ve started and things that have failed at, but it all led me to where I am today.

One of my favourites… “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are they who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.”
George Bernard Shaw

My Past Timeline…

Gosh…. What didn’t I do? I worked in a restaurant, starting as a dishwasher, then moved up to line cooking. I drove a water truck for a road construction company (best summer job ever for an 18 year old!)

I did door to door sales, selling coupon cards (you know the ones we get for free now at every store, well I had to walk door to door selling these coupon cards for $25!).

I also worked at a phone company… Remember when we had actual home phones? I was that person who called and asked how you like your phone service and if you were interested in call waiting, call display or call forwarding! Yes. I was that person that got hung up on so many times, I lost count.

I started in construction when I was 19 years old. It was supposed to be temporary as I was enrolled to go college, but once I started, I was like this sponge that wanted to learn every aspect of the business, I was so fascinated by it. Yes I was a 19 year old girl in construction and loved to watch how things were built and how you can start with nothing but dirt then turn it into a beautiful structure that provided jobs.

I found that whole process fascinating! However…. I started in Reception answering phones, then just started climbing steadily thereafter, working with the engineers in the office, going to meetings with them, doing whatever I could to help out wherever I was needed in any department, it didn’t matter to me, I loved being a part of something! Then a position opened up in Marketing and I went for it! I was putting together proposals, managing their events. I absolutely loved it. Then I moved cities and moved from Calgary to Edmonton, Alberta and started working for another Construction company and I really wanted to begin to manage my own projects. I took some courses at NAIT, started project managing small tenant improvements projects. When I look back at those 11 years I spent in construction, I gained a wealth of knowledge that I still use to this day. When you are building a building, you always have to make sure first you have a strong foundation to support everything else. Well, that goes for anything we do in life including ourselves.

“We can take on the world, but we need to make sure our own internal foundation is solid and if it’s not, we need to make sure we take care of it and patch and mend the holes when needed”.

Last story about construction

I remember walking into meetings when I was the only woman at the table running the whole meeting and all of the people around the table were old enough to be my dad or my grandpa! Talk about my stomach in knots! Fake it until you make it right! So keep in mind I was in my mid 20’s. I learned really quickly how to adapt and work with people despite my education, my gender or how young I was. I learned very quickly how to hold my own, own my confidence and command the attention and respect in the room.

My precious Cargo

Well anyone that knows me, knows how important my boys are to me. They are the light to my day. Three boys?? Yes! Even though everyone in my family thought I was going to have girls, I had boys! I have watched every superhero movie known to man, we have every single dinosaur that ever existed, and then some. They don’t like shopping unless it’s for them lol, we are a very active family trying new things. They are the most kind, generous, intelligent young boys and I am forever grateful to be their mom.

When Ryder’s teachers asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up, he said he wants to be an entrepreneur and make lots of money!! He has huge dreams and goals and always thinking how to make the world a better place. He is deeply interested in politics and what is happening in the world. He is an entrepreneur at heart and self starter and continues to “wow” me. Ryder is an old soul, so wise beyond his years. He just has this understanding that is years beyond his age and he is so kind. He has a serious drive for life and has one of the best attitudes! He is always so positive!

Liam, my sweet Liam, he is my easy child that just goes along with anything. He blows me away with how adventurous he is and how quickly he picks things up that he has never tried before. He LOVES to travel! He wants to be an actor! His first play was Rumpelstiltskin in the lead role! I couldn’t believe how he remembered all of his lines! He loves to make people laugh, and he is always the one that goes out of his way to make sure everyone is happy. He has such a kind and caring heart!

And my little Oliver, I love his feistiness and his independence and his willingness to try everything even though he may not like it. He is usually the one that wants to go first because he wants to get it done and over with. He is not scared to speak his mind and I just love that about him. His dream right now is to be a Youtube star! I am the videographer and he will make cooking videos, action figure videos, hot wheel car videos – you name it! Then we review the videos and if he wants to do it over again, we shoot them again! (They’re not published, although he asks me everyday if I have his Youtube channel set up). He is so charismatic, wise and has the best imagination.

They are 3 people that inspire me each day to be better, to stretch, to loosen up and have fun and it’s funny but they are always my biggest fan club! I involve them in everything I do, they are so wise and genuinely care for people. They are the finest young men, turning into great men! I am always so proud of them!

The person who captured my heart

This person came so unexpectedly into my life. He is undoubtedly the most selflessness person I’ve ever met. He has such a kind heart and a huge desire and drive to improve everyone’s life. He is the perfect addition to our family of 4 already and it is like he’s always been here.

In my spare time...

  • I LOVE spending time with my boys! We have so much fun together no matter what we do, whether it’s tree trekking, traveling, watching movies, playing games or whatever comes along our path!
  • I read every day! I average about 1-2 books a week depending on the size of the books! I mostly read personal development books, biographies and skill building books.
  • I love to cook! My favourite dishes to make are homemade soups however I’m known for my caesar salads and lasagne!
  • I love to ski, paddle board and recently just learned how to wakeboard this summer and absolutely love it.
  • I love watching documentaries and cooking competition shows.
  • I love to swim! I joined a swim team (it was called the Masters Swim team). My son Liam inspired me to learn how to swim.
  • I love to travel! I love to experience new cultures, new ways of living and meeting new people.
  • I love learning new things in general and how to do things. I’m an avid studier and a student in a course called life, therefore I’m always trying new things

“I’m not scared to reinvent myself or to change things up. I really believe we have to be flexible as things are always changing around us and instead of resisting it, go with it, how can you be different, what can you do differently that you are doing right now or how can you stand out from the crowd? Pave your own path!”

What most people don’t know about me…

I have a goofy side. Most people think I’m serious, quiet or shy because when they first meet me, I can be a bit quiet however, I LOVE to talk! I love talking about random stuff, thoughts, or those deep conversations as long as it doesn’t involve my feelings haha! I have a huge sense of humour. I love to laugh and have fun! I love trying new things. I have a secret obsession to flying (I use to be scared, but overcame it) and a goal down the road for me has always been to learn how to fly. I love to travel, I’m love being busy and on the go. I also am quite content chilling at home (but not for long periods of time!) I have a huge fear of snakes AND it might not look it on the outside, but I do LOVE adventure. I’d love to climb Machu Picchu, learn to surf, get scuba certified, do an iron man and the list goes on. Each year, I add new things to my bucket list of things that I at least want to try or learn and for me, that keeps me excited, but more importantly like every parent, if I tell my boys that they can achieve anything, then I need to make sure I’m setting a good example.

People crossing paths…

I really LOVE what I do and being a part of people’s journey. Sometimes it is with my family, who mean the world to me, or the people who help me do what I do, I truly wouldn’t be where I am without them, the clients that I have worked with who entrusted me to my first few clients who believed in me when I was just getting started. I’m forever grateful to everyone that has been a part of my journey.

These are just some of the exceptional people that have helped shape me along the way. xo

Trish Jevne

My Sister

“What it’s like to be your sister…
Jacquelyn pushes me beyond my comfort zone at every opportunity and it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. When I began writing my book, she was my biggest supporter, encouraging me to set goals and make decisions on aspects of being an author that I hadn’t yet thought of, whether I was ready to or not.

She tends to run at 1000 mph, bouncing idea after idea off me, even if they don’t come to fruition. Despite being an expert in her field, she still asks her little sister for advice or help, because she wants to see things the way that I see them. Does she always listen to me? Nope, maybe that’s an older sibling trait, but one thing I will never doubt is that she‘ll be by my side until the end of time.”

I truly value Jacquelyn’s business sense. She has assisted me as my company has gone through transitions and faced adversity. It is a rare quality to listen and hear the challenges of a CEO and then to offer timely insight. Over the course of time while working with Jacquelyn, my company has grown significantly: our sales have tripled, we’ve added and sold business units, and we’ve grown our operational capacity and efficiency.

Jacquelyn has helped me bring my vision to life and that’s the most I could ask from anyone.”
